Balkhis - Vision For Success

OIOPublisher has released a major discount for the new users

OIOPublisher version 1.60 has been released, and It comes with a great discount. I have been recommending this software to everyone since the day I got it when it was $37. With the new version of this release, there were two coupons that were released, and sent over to all the existing members so they can share it with more people.

I have always been supporting OIOPublisher because I love the product, and I know Simon Emery, developer, for quiet some time. This script is hands down the best way to sell ads on your website.

Forget adtoll, reviewme and all the other places that keeps their own comission. Eliminate the middle man and keep all your profit. OIOPublisher for Wordpress actually make your life easy for the future in placing ads. You can use the plugin to actually track all your affiliate ads, and much more. If you are having issues selling ads. To cover up the blank spots, put adsense there. Once someone buys the spot, the adsense will go away and their banner will work. Very user-friendly interface in the admin panel. This plugin is a no brainer. After using the discount this product will only be $20.

I made my $37 within the first few days of the product installed on Balkhis. I don’t think anyone should have an issue with recovering their $20. If you can’t make this $20 back then you should quit this industry.

$5 off code: QWERTY-5 (expires May 21st)
$17 off code: QWERTY-17 (Expires May 5th.)

$17 off coupon is a nice one, but just incase if you missed the first deadline there is another one available for you.

Best Design Practices of RSS and Free icon sets collection

RSS Icons and best practice

RSS, Really Simple Syndication, is a very simple but powerful tool used on websites. Mostly used on blogs this tool allows the readers to subscribe to the website and stay updated with the recent updates. Aside from having good content for your users to subscribe, sometimes Rss design and placement also comes in handy to increase your subscriber count.

In this post I will be sharing tons of free icons sets for rss as well as examples of best feed placement. Note: These icons does not belong to Balkhis therefore before abusing using it make sure you read the guidelines provided by the designer.

Let me put the general guidelines for the use of these icons:

Do not take the credit away from the designers.
Do not sell these icons
Stick with personal use unless commercial use is allowed by the designers

Ultimate goal of bloggers

The ultimate goal of bloggers is to have a large loyal reader base which they keep track by using RSS Feeds through feedburner and track the count of their subscribers. Many things decide whether your user would subscribe to your website or not. One of the things are the right placement for the RSS Buttons, and how well you embed it on the website.

Best Placement and Practices of RSS Designs

Best Placement of RSS Designs are mostly toward the very top. Making your reader scroll to find the RSS is one of the mistakes many bloggers make. The more creative the RSS Button looks, the more it will impress the users and will lead them to subscribe.

Below are some of the best / creative examples of RSS

Charity events are cool places to meet people

I am all for charity and have been to many of the charity events. While talking to a friend of mine Bruce, the owner of authority directory, we talked about charity events. He said he will be attending one to support the local school districts. I said take some pictures and send me and I will feature it on Balkhis. Guess who is he in the picture with. Yup my favorite NFL team Denver Broncos Cheerleaders.

Denver Broncos Cheerleaders

I like the one on the left better :P Lucky Bruce gets to stand next to them. Official apology to Bruce’s wife for making her take this picture (I hope you don’t mind) I asked Bruce personally.

You can make a difference in the society as well. Donate to support the World’s Education.

Open to all readers: If any of you guys attend something that you think is super cool feel free to send me an email along with the picture(s) or Video(s), and if I like it. I will add it in the blog with a backlink to your site :)

World’s Smallest USB Drive – as a Gift

World's Smallest USB Drive

Today something surprising happened. I was sitting in my room trying to write a blog post on Balkhis, and someone knocked really hard on the apartment’s door. I got up and thought who the heck is this? I ran up to the door, and there was package on the door. The package contained a super technology from Super Talent Technology Corporation.

This USB Drive is in the PICO Series of the Super Talent company. I don’t know why it is PICO series, but I am thinking that picometer is a really small measuring unit. It was the smallest one until femto unit arrived. Now I will be waiting to see smaller USB Drives in FEMTO series :P This USB Drive is PICO_C.

The Dimensions of this magnificent technology is

31.3mm x 12.4mm x 3.4mm

and it weights only 6 grams. And the cool part is that this is water resistable (works for me) I am very careless, so if anything happens I know this will be one of the things that won’t be damaged severely. These drives range from 1GB – 8GB. The one I got in mail is 8GB :)

Below is the video with my frist reaction and the actual usb drive.

I actually tested the water resistance of the drive by dropping it in the container full of water

Well what are you waiting for ?? Get yours now. OO By the way there is a contest going on that I might Enter. Check it Here. Right a Review about any Pico Product and enter a chance to win. This is a review, and I might win something else.

Tips on w3c Validation for your website

I am hoping that most of you know what w3c is. Well let me give you a little overview of what w3c is before I give out some tips on how to fix some of the common mistakes. W3C was developed in 1994 for the sole purpose of having web standards and guidelines. Why W3C? “In order for the Web to reach its full potential, the most fundamental Web technologies must be compatible with one another and allow any hardware and software used to access the Web to work together” (W3C, About).

As I go along, I see alot of websites are coded horribly. Believe me or not they are. All because the designer of the site was careless. Sometimes the script coders were. Open tags are left everywhere which causes the website to be W3C xhtml invalid. Or even the css, which shouldn’t be, is invalid for some sites. Let me assist you on how to fix these issues. But I know most of you will probably think that this is another boring article and will stop reading, so let me tell you the benefits of having your site w3c valid.

Faster Loading

If you have broken html codes, your site will take longer to load because the browser have to fix for your mistakes often which they are not really good at. Also it will take longer for search engines to spider your pages therefore slowing down your indexing rate.

Search engine friendly pages

Say that your designer or even you were trying to add something on your site, and you made a mistake like the one below:

<span Helping bloggers is the motive of our site.</span>

rather than having the right thing which looks like the code below:

<span> Helping bloggers is the motive of our site.</span>

The effect of this would be that when search engine indexes it and someone researched for helping bloggers. The site with the error will show in the description <span which will turn away your users whereas the site which is valid will not have this issue.

Less load on server / Cheap hosting Price

By having all the style codes keep repeating in your html file you are going to make the size of your html files very large which will take up alot of space in your hosting account. Then the loading of these big files every time will cause more bandwidth to be used. By using CSS stylesheet you can minimize that, but remember to have it valid. (Check CSS Validation Here).

Larger Audience / Browser Compatibility

By having your sites …. [Trust me this is a long one so go in and read all the tips these are just the benefits above]
