Hey everyone from Seattle. I arrived here last night, and saw an increase in my blog’s page views recently. Everytime I have been getting an increase I wrote down what I changed, so I think I have collected a good list to share with you guys. I believe by doing the things I share, you are very likely to see an increase also. I keep track of my blog’s page views and other stats because that is one of the things that keeps me motivated. When I do good, I am happy and I want to do better, and when I am not doing so good, I am sad and I want to do better, so both ways keep me motivated.

Lets get on with how to increase page views on your blog. If you don’t know what page views are this is for you. Page views are basically page views per user, and we are trying to increase that. This will not increase unique visitors, but increase the pages viewed by users and can potentially make them your regular user.

Good Content

Quality resourceful content is always a key to attract users. Readers look for various keywords, tutorials, tips, something they can use. If they find a good website for what they are looking for, they will read more on the website to see what other good information this website contains. I found it very common, when I wrote some of my resource articles. Take the article about How to increase an alexa rank of your websites. When I wrote that article, I saw a great increase in my page views because people started reading other posts of mine also.

Interlink your Posts

I have noticed everytime, I interlink my posts I get an increase in page views for my other posts. For example when I am writing about some tactics of increasing the revenue of your blog, I will link to my older resourceful posts like Ways you can make money online with a blog. This is definately something you can try when you have more articles. If you are just starting this might not be a very good one for you.

Now you already know What is a Proxy, and I have shown how to setup a proxy in my previous post. It is time to show you guys how to advertise and monetize a proxy.

Proxies are very easy to promote, and very easy to make a dollar or two a day. So lets begin with how to advertise a proxy.

First of all you should submit your site to all social bookmarks. Stumble it, Digg it, and all the other ones that you can do. Get other people to stumble yoursite also. Next thing you can do is submit your site to proxy topsites. There are alot of those out in the public so submit your sites there. Search for them in Google. Once you have done those. I will try using Google and Yahoo Groups.

There are many more out there. Post your proxies atleast 2 times a day for a week or two and you are good to go there. Now you are getting tons of traffic. Try to post it on some forums also, there you will get visitors.

There is another technique which there are people who have different view points. Submitting your sites to Proxy.org. This site will list your site among the thousands of proxy and bring you alot of traffic. All they ask for is a link back which is not that big of a deal. This will bring alot of traffic. But some people believe that your site gets blocked from schools by getting listed on proxy.org because all the administrators are constantly looking on the updates on this site, and as new sites get listed those people block it so the users can’t use it. I put my site in there and Its doing good. The techniques defined above is what I took and it gets me around 200 – 300 uniques daily.

Now lets discuss how to monetize a proxy. You can use popular publishers like Adsense, Bidvertiser and other ones. Check out the money makers I recommend. Let me tell you how exactly I did it. I placed one ad on the top, and other ads I tried to embed in the content and put it close to the buttons. Alot of sites are putting ads above and below the url form. Most are 728 x 90 or 336 x 280. These two works great. 468 x 60 also works but not as great as the other two. Make sure you don’t put google ads on the proxified pages. So only put it on sitepages not the proxified pages. Sell private ads on proxies. Because they recieve traffic, alot of people will buy the ads.

You have to balance the ads because sometimes they outlook the site. Alot of proxies I see are very ugly and I don’t like going to those sites every again because of their ads are very ugly. You can make the ad looks pretty with a clean design. But some people say don’t worry about the prettyness and I don’t agree with them.

Well there are three essential things that you will need to setup a proxy.

Domain
Script
Webhost (Server)
Design

Now I will go in detail on each of these three topics because these are the things that you will need to setup a proxy. Lets start with a Domain.

Domain

Domain is an important factor for making a proxy for many things. One of them is for marketing, and another one is for keeping it away from being blocked. While it will help you guys in SEO to get a name with the keyword proxy in it, It will not help you with the users because most schools and workplaces filter the keyword proxy in the domain, so if they see it. It will be banned automatically within 24 hours. So you are loosing users. Also try to avoid using popular services like myspace and facebook because those are also blocked. Try to use keywords such as Unblockthe, Unblock, Hide and words like those. Also you can go brandable like my proxy eKey – Key for the electronic world. You can also go about having just random 4 letter domains. The shorter the better because it is easier to memorize. My favorite registrar is Domainsite but register it from wherever you like.

Script

There are 4 popular scripts that you can use to run your proxy. Each script have its own advantage and disadvantages which you will have to read in details from the script websites.

PHProxy – This script is a left behind project now because they are not making any more updates and it is as is, so all the bugs will have to be fixed by yourself, but I am still using it on eKey. This will let you login to myspace and facebook, but still won’t let you post comments on myspace.

CGI Proxy – This is a strong script by James Marshall, but this takes alot of server resources. This script will let you login to anything. CGI Proxies are highly resourceful. This is a paid script. I don’t use it because it takes up alot of server resources and you should get your own server if you are planning on running this one.

Zelune – Zelune is a php based proxy I believe. I have never used this one, so I cannot recommend anyone to use it, but most people say it is a fast proxy but it doesn’t provide users with all the options.

Glype – is a replacement of phproxy and can do almost everything the phproxy can do. If you want to stay with a php proxy then use Glype.

Hosting

Proxies usually take alot of bandwidth and alot of server resources therefore not many hosts will allow you to run a proxy. Popular hosts like hostgator, godaddy, and others will shut your hosting down if you they catch you having a proxy. Therefore for the light proxy users I recommend HagioHost, this is the one I have been using for the past month. Once your proxy begin to grow and get more popular, you would need to get a server, so be prepared for that.

Design

Most Proxy sites does not look pretty. Infact they are shit ugly. To get an advantage over your competitors make your proxy look good and fast loading. This will attract more users to your site. You can either get a free or custom template for your proxies. Find free templates Free Proxy Templates, if you want a custom one (which I recommend, find anyone at forums like digitalpoint and get one made for you. You can even hire me to make you a good looking proxy template

Now I don’t think I need to teach you all how to upload the script to make it run. This is all what you need to setup a proxy. Hopefully this will help you guys. I will come up with the next one on about how to market / monetize the proxy. Keep yourself updated by subscribing.

Well, For those of you who don’t know I am a cricket fan. I have been playing cricket since I was 5, and I played in U.S league with United States Cricket Academy. Well the sponsor of my team, Mr. Muhammad Afzal Quereshi (MAQ) is also the CEO of Cricket Council USA which is holding a 20-20 competition between Pakistan, West Indies, Canada and World XI. Alot of players from all over the world are coming. I visited their head quarters on Tuesday and took some cool pictures. They had Imran Farhat, Pakistani Batsman there, so I took pictures with him. They are having the tournamet this memorial day weekend, which I am attending. Damn, I have the all access pass to it. Which sounds fun. Also here in Broward county, May 23rd is also named Official Cricket Appreciation Day. Well I think this is one of the coolest gift a company can give me
