Wordpress, such a cool platform for blogs. Tons and tons of blogs in the blogosphere are running on this platform. I don’t know how many of you notice, but there is one category that you cannot delete through your Wordpress Admin Panel. This category is named Uncategorized.

Sometimes when you forget to select a category, this category gets auto-selected. Or if you saved the post before selecting a category and later on went on to select an appropriate category, Uncategorized is still selected. So when you forget to select it, and the post gets published. It kind of puts a bad impression because it shows that the editor didn’t do quiet as good of a job. It taints the reputation of the blog also.

Personally in my opinion, when I see a site that have like one post or two posts in Uncategorized. I know the person has post it without noticing. So I notify them, and alot of the times it gets changed. So why won’t we just rename it.

Well I have renamed my uncategorized category to be named to Other. Because it makes sense and doesn’t say Uncategorized. So what I am saying is Other sounds more professional then Uncategorized.

Well it is really simple. Go to your Admin Panel.

Then Click on the Manage Tab and then Click Categories

Click on Uncategorized, and edit the name and slug

So now it will be named Other.

Hopefully you guys will use this. Let me know your thought about the name Uncategorized.
