9 Tab-Based Interface Techniques

Tab-Based Interface (TBI) is a growing phenomenon on the web. Designers and developers have worked hard to incorporate this feature in many well-known websites. Tab-based interface is an extremely user-friendly way of highlighting quality content because it allows developers to maintain multiple content on one page navigated by tabs which avoids users to open multiple windows to access the important content.

You have seen it being used on many famous websites and it often looks complex. But it doesn’t have to be. Creating tab based interfaces and customizing it to match your design is a matter of few minutes. With the combination of CSS, JavaScript, and DHTML this is made possible and doable. Content is not loaded separately instead it is being loaded all in one page using Ajax-based techniques.

So lets check out some of the freeware tab interfaces that will let you create and implement tabs on your website within minutes.

MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate – Ultimate Affiliate Marketing Plugin for WordPress

Note: This post is published under the review section because it is a product review. I was not paid to write this review.

Wordpress 2.7 was out, and Balkhis wasn’t upgraded. And the reason for that was because my WP-Affiliate Plugin will not work. So I had an option of losing a great chunk of my income from Balkhis, or upgrade. You can check out the reasons why I downgraded from WP 2.7.

I was in a search for a perfect plugin, that would replace WP-Affiliate without me changing a whole lot to the posts. It was a tough process because I wanted to use the features of 2.7 and I couldn’t. I am making quiet a lot of money from Balkhis Affiliate Links, and I didn’t want to lose that all. I tried out a lot of plugins in the meantime that would help me, but none of them worked. Few days back, I saw MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate Ad, and I clicked on it. Next thing I know, I ended up buying a $97 Wordpress Plugin.

You might be wondering what type of idiot buys a wordpress plugin that is worth $97. Well let me tell you why I ended up buying this wordpress plugin. First, as I mentioned, I have been looking around for a while and comparatively, Ninja Affiliate had a lot more functions to offer which I will go in details. So I would rather spend the money to get the best thing for myself. Now I could’ve set it all up manually, but I don’t have enough time. I have two businesses running, I am a full time student, so time to me is more valuable than money. Because in the time I would save from making those individual manual links, I can start a new product promotion, and get twice the amount. I read the reviews from people, but I wasn’t satisfied. I mean you can never believe something unless you try for yourself. Plus, I had 60 day money-back guarantee, so I said it is worth a try. So I hit the buy now button, and I am going to tell you now that I am truly impressed with it. My earnings have gone up in the past 3 days that I put this plugin to work. So read below and I will show you how this plugin is different, and why my revenue has increased.

MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate

So this plugin enriches you with insane amount of control. I have tested quite a few free ones, almost none worked with WP 2.7. But neither one of those offered you this much link control. This lets you track your keywords and choose your own link. Here is a just a screenshot for you that will show you the adding link process. So you should see that I can literally give my url any keyword that I want. It is called branding. I mean why not just use tinyurl that will work also. Now I can put my own brand just about everywhere. Balkhis.com/xxx

MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate

As you can see in the picture above, I am making an auto link for the plugin I support, OIO Publisher <- This keyword should convert into a link. I have set the global control that each link should open in a new window, but you can see that I can change it in each post. I didn't change it for OIO though. This is one of the controls that MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate gives you. If you think this is all well you haven’t seen anything yet.

MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate

Above is the screen shot that shows you an option page that lets me control, how many keywords do I want to be linked on each page. So I say 3 per keyword, and 5 total links per page. But you can change it to just about whatever you like. This is the control MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate gives you over your blog. Now I don’t want to be one of the guys talking all good stuff about this plugin, but I haven’t seen anything that tells me that this plugin is not a worthy investment. I mentioned above that Balkhis affiliate commission went up and that is because of this keyword option. There were posts that I never linked the keyword to any affiliate link. Now it just automatically links them, so I am getting more money at least the past couple days. So I will let you know when I recover all the money from this plugin.

This plugin saves me a lot of time in more ways that other plugins do. Well I get to make a link and it links all the keywords automatically, so that saves me time from linking keywords that I want. But not only that, it have a tab in the write post section.

MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate

You can see that I can just click on any keyword and it will automatically link it there. I won’t even need to type the url anymore. That itself saves me a lot of time. This is just a super feature in this plugin. I absolutely love it. So this will save me time whenever I write a post until this blog exist. So this investment is a long-term investment.

Another cool feature this plugin has is change status bar text, but sadly I have noticed it is not working in my FF browser and I am using Firefox 3. So that is something that needs to be fixed, but knowing the author’s credibility it will be fixed soon. Yes this is Pawan Agrawal, the same guy who have strip ads and bunch of other wordpress plugins.

I know that when I was in the trouble of not being to upgrade a lot of others emailed me as well asking me what I am going to use because they were having the same problem. Well this is the solution for all of you guys.

Some settings I would recommend,

Make all affiliate links no-follow. Pretty easy just change the global setting. Make them open in a New Window. Do not change the style for the link because it makes your site looks hideous. Cloak your links to avoid someone from stealing your profit. And change the status bar text. Use keywords!!! Hope you guys will like it. Let me know if anyone of you guys buy it. Once again it is MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate.

How To Ask For Links To Your Blog

In my previous post, I shared How Not To Ask For Links To Your Blog. So well this post, I will be showing you how you can get backlinks to your blog from other bloggers. I have seen that people who are desperate for links are those who are starting out, and they often make mistakes that effect their blog’s reputation significantly.

Some say just write quality content, and you will get links to your blog. But it is really hard to get blogs to link to you when your readership is small. A lot of of my newer posts have no links even though they are one of the better ones. Some of the great tutorials are toward the beginning of the blog. Well this is when you would need to ask other bloggers to link to you. Sounds simple, but it is not.

Some Ideas for you to consider:

You must make sure that your content is best of the best if you are approaching one of the top bloggers. Because I certainly won’t link to a post that you wrote in 30 minutes between your break from work.

Check if the Blogger Links out

Find out whether the blog links out. Some blogs never link out whereas others link out almost all the time. Take Engadget for example. They link out just about every time. Then there are blogs that have weekly link roundups. My Blog, and several other blogs in the blogosphere. Then there are ones that never link out. So you would be wasting your time if you pitch a story to someone who never links out.

Learn the blog inside out. You need to know what type of stories they link to, how they link to them and more. The more you know the better you will be prepared. The more prepared you are, your chances of getting a backlink would be higher. Some blogs even present you with methods to pitch them stories with contact forms dedicated to story submissions, so make sure you look around.

Relevant Content

Don’t expect a webmaster blog to link to your blog if you run a real estate blog. So only suggest posts that are highly relevant to their website. So don’t bother if your story isn’t relevant because not only you will waste your time, but you will waste the other blogger’s time.

Save it for your Best Content

Don’t just go out and promote all of your posts. Save it for your best posts. Because I definitely don’t want to link to your blog every week unless you have a best post every week. Hint: Always think of your post from other blogger’s perspective.

Ask them to link to your articles, not blog

Don’t email bloggers asking for links to your blog. Ask them to link to your article. Remember if someone comes to your article, he is coming to your site, so it is actually better than getting a link to your homepage.

Suggest Guest Posts with Resources

Write guest posts for bloggers. I always welcome guest bloggers on Balkhis. Your chances of getting your post approved would be even more if you attach pictures with it because you will save bloggers a lot of time. Also since guest posts are mutually beneficial, your chances of getting approved is much higher.

Be Personal, Polite, and Helpful

Use their name, show that you know their blog etc. Remember no one likes a Kiss ASS. However be careful when doing this to multiple blogs – you don’t want to personalize an email and then send it to the wrong blogger – major embarrassment! Always be polite in your email, and make it brief. Always include details that will help them. Save them time and get to the point. No need to make the email long.

Don’t just limit to top bloggers

Often times people ignore some of the B, C, D list bloggers because they think they won’t get a lot of traffic from them. So they only pitch to the bigger bloggers. Half of the times their requests get rejected. You need to think that if you get about 30 small blogs get approved, you will have 30 links and more users.

Now if you follow the steps above you will be likely to get more links. Always remember that if a blogger links to you, then you make better relationship with them. Always keep in touch with them, so it does not seem like that you always come to them when you need something. Enjoy more links for your blog.
