I made $97,384 in 3 months – Making money online
So everyone what are you thinking. Surprised by the number. I am too. This post is not about how much I made or how much people make. But this is about a technique which I see people using alot since I have been using entrecard and discovering more websites. That technique is showing huge numbers even when they are not correct. But this type of advertising and marketing strategy is really working, and these people end up making this much money in the end. So lets look into this issue…
Everyone likes to see high figures, and that is one of the reason why people like John Chow who actually are making this much money display that amount. But now other people are starting to do such things also even though when they are not making this much money. Not just money people are lying about, but they are lying about their number of subscribers, traffic, etc etc. This lying is actually gaining them visitors. I can darn sure guarantee that when you saw this post, you definately jumped in to see what the heck is going on here, and how I made that much money. But I didn’t. This was just an experimental title to see how much hits will this post get.
Increasing subscribers this way…
How hard it is to make a feedburner button and change the count in there. Fairly easy I suppose with photoshop. How easy it is to actually go in, and take one of high blogger’s image and paste it on your website. I remembered reading it on Chow’s blog long time ago that this technique actually works. Ladies and gentleman it does work. How do I know because I saw some blogs which I won’t mention here because I don’t want to put anyone on the spot, but these blogs were using some other large blog’s feed codes and when I actually put their feedcode in there to watch their real feedcount image the difference was clear.
Making Money Online Landing Pages with a software
How many of you have seen these pages where people claim to have made in 6 figures in 4 months, and then willing to share their secrets with you… I have seen it alot. It is actually working that is why more and more people are trying it now. The thing I find funny is that they never show any proof. Shoemoney had his google adsense check. Zac Johnson have his yahoo check, and it is believable. But how to believe these people who claim to make this much but doesn’t show proof.
I am basically writing this post to get the opinion of my audience and readers. What do they think about such strategies? Does it work in their experience? Is it wrong if someone is doing this? Please feel free to comment.

Hey, I am Syed Balkhi, The guy who is behind Balkhis Inc. I entered the industry back in 2002 not knowing a single thing. I barely spoke English at that time. After running numerous amount of websites in various niche, I have mastered the art of web-development. Now I am compiling a resource of what I already know, and what I am learning on this blog. Misrepresnting the truth is never a good policy for any business that wants long term success. imo
I really don’t think it works.
But it can be used to attract readers, just like what John did.
umm you are contradicting yourself in the statement. First you say it doesn’t work, but then you say it can be used to attract users.
If it can be used to attract users then it works …
It is like the infomercials you see on tv – they try to suck you in by promising the world. then when you get the true scoop it is a load of crap.
So I could see how it might generate some traffic – I don’t agree with the method or think it would have a lasting positive effect.
Long term it could cause serious harm to the credibility of the site.
If that makes sense.
I see stuff like that and tune it out.
yes I personally agree that long term effects of those landing pages won’t be pretty but this marketing technique is growing right now……
Here’s the problem: if you lie about it, people will find out eventually.
I’ve been finding different blogs through Entrecard I wouldn’t have found before, and I find it amazing. One of the blogs on the top blogs for internet marketing just had a post today about how they just discovered Google Website Optimizer. What? How can you possibly blog about just finding it when that, along with maybe 5 or 6 other tools is the cornerstone of any successful internet marketing business? It’s like a web designer saying they just heard about this new language called “AJAX”.
I find that the blogs that are written by people without a clue, no matter how much they claim they make, won’t ever have a solid, faithful readership: the #1 asset any blogger has.
haha I think I know which blog you are talking about…
I like surfing on entrecard .. it gives me a good laugh sometimes and sometimes I find out some really cool things.
Sorry, one final thought. The “bleeding edge” marketing tactics are actually swinging the other way. Frank Kern brought it semi-mainstream with Mass control in which he is touting the “anti-guru” aspect of selling, and Jeff Walker is continuing it with his PLF 2.
If these two guys are doing it today, you can count on everyone else doing it in 2 years.
lol. I was surprised with the title
Yes I see this common practice from MMO blogs.
Syed,
I too have been to many long, fixed width, single page declarations saying: “Make money with just a Laptop”, Reverse Funnel System, Closed Tunnel system, Blah Blah…
Its true that, people will be pulled to these sites seeing those persuading ADs. But, once they’ve been to many like those, they will never ever click on those, for sure!!!
As many have already pointed out, those sites are gonna’ fail in the long term.
But, those people will make the money they proclaimed just before the so-called “long term”.
Then they need not care about their sites!!
exactly, and i dont know if you notice, all the reverse funnel links take you to one page, so it is only one person who made alot of money and the rest are making alot of money by selling his referral product and the person is ofcourse making more money because his product is being sold… ah well
all these funnels are going way through my head, lol
good thing that they are not going through your teeth … You should stick to dentistry doctor :p
I have seen people asking for loads and loads of email ID accounts illegally so that they can sign up under their own feeds and increase the stat counter. I say this because a well known friend and blogger [Not disclosing his name] of mine has searched for a person in DP to create gmail accounts for him.
so are you saying that your friend is one of those people too ? I know there are scammers every where who would do such things…
Well, feedburner is very smart. The number that you see in widgets is actually the no of people who saw your feeds yesterday. Therefore even if I get thousand people to subscribe to feeds (not via email) and those thousand don’t update the feeds, they don’t count the next day!
I think that’s smart work from the Feedburner guys!
In the short run this may work, but if someone was to find out it would completely ruin your reputation. So therefore ultimately harm your future prospects.
Not that I don’t suspect it is being done more often than you would expect!
By the way your experiment worked, it grabbed my attention.
Hehe you are the first one to reply about my question about the experiment … Thanks much I appreciate the comment on that.
Syed, once the words are out, one cannot take them back. This post of yours was not clear…….. on reading it the second time, I saw that the line mentioned by you “I made….” was a line of John Chow. I am sorry for my stupid comment earlier. Do excuse me.
I really don’t understand how you feed burner subscriptions would increase your income.
the more subscribers you have more private investors want to invest in your site…….
Most blogs are paid a value based on their RSS subscribers. The average rate is $25 to $35 per subscriber so it can affect the price quite a bit like Syed mentioned.
Nothing passes the bloggers eye. When people were caught doing this, it didnt turn out well for them.
LOL. I actually thought you made 97K in 3 months!
Speak of a catchy title!
