We are running a web business, but we do not live on the web, and people who you are targetting also does not live on the web. They most certainly browse the web often, but not live on the web. I found the success point of business is to be in local advertising. For every business branding is necessary, and you have to start somewhere. While i was promoting Balkhis on the web, I actually decided to promote it locally in the Gainesville community. So i decided to get some shirts with Balkhis logo on it and started distributing it to close friends.

Yes that is necessary. All of my friends really supported me and helped me by wearing the shirt around, and you will not believe how many people will ask you. Hey What is Balkhis? I went to this group thing for an association, and this was a completely public event. I went and sat with some people, and this one girl asked hey what is Balkhis? Is that a new brand or something. I said yeah this is my brand, and then i explained to her and all who were sitting on my table, and they were really impressed.

Words getting around…. Now you will see that from my friends the words moved onto their friends, and Balkhis spreaded across the town. Now i have majority of my traffic from my friends and supporters here in Gainesville. While alot of it is coming from other places, but a big chunk of the traffic is from Gainesville. This gives my U.S traffic a little boost. Now if you live in United States you should actually use this to your advantage because there are alot of the affiliates program i see on Azoogle Ads that specifically requires United States traffic and they have one of the highest payouts.

You have to start some where, and I think locally is the best way. You will not believe how helpful these business owners are. Small businesses even bigger businesses. All it took for me was to take my shirt and gave it to them, and these guys wore it around. I am talking about managers of the stores wearing my shirt which have my URL printed on big letters on the back. That got me some promotion. Now my next step is to feature in a News Paper. Once i can get a hold of local market, then i will be surely moving for national exposure into National News paper, but this is just the start.

Also what i found really astonishing was advertisement on the local businesses especially the local restuarants. They will carry your brochures for free, or a little charge which is negligible compared to the benefit you are going to get out of it. I have got Balkhis flyers flowing around through about four stores right now where I go weekly to put the flyers in. 100 every week and so far two of the stores are getting all 100 distributed, and the other two are very close because only few are left when i get there to refill. It is really hard to tell how much traffic is converting through this method, but I am sure it is converting.
