Trackback – another technique to increase traffic

Alright, well I like to give credit to people where I am inspired to write posts. I often leave them trackbacks, and sometimes Wordpress is smart enough to ping the sites even when I don’t leave them trackbacks. A while back I wrote two posts about wordpress. One which was giving the sneak peak and the other one was announcing the release of Wordpress 2.5.

I realized while checking my stats, that Wordpress automatically pinged the wordpress site and the fluency admin site when I put a link to them in my website and wrote about it. Giving trackbacks to these sites actually increased the traffic to my website.

Trackback stats

Now you can see for yourself. The number proves itself, and I don’t even have to talk anymore about that it does work.

I get alot of trackback spams on Balkhis. Where people on spammy adsense websites, quote my posts and claiming it to be theirs and leave a trackback, so if by accident I approve they get traffic. That is a very shady technique. Therefore, be very careful about leaving trackbacks for no reason because It will make you look shady as well. If someone deserves the credit then give them a credit otherwise don’t try too hard !

I suggest you guys allow trackbacks on your blogs if you are not already doing so. Just keep them for manual approval rather than autoapprove, and It should all work fine. It shows that other people are quoting you and builds credibility to your user.

Quality Resource, Money maker, but not Waste of Time

Contrary to what John Chow’s blog featured recently the belief that Forums are a waste of time. I would have to slightly disagree with that. In my opinion, forums are an important learning resource for newbies as well as old timers. Though one must learn how to use their time wisely in order to not make it a waste of time. I will go in depth on how to use forums effectively to your advantage.

Active forums like Digitalpoint, Sitepoint are a quality resource. What can you do to use this resource as an advantage?

The number one advantage of a webmaster forum is that it helps making connections. The people who you have never met, never known that were in the same industry as you are. They are all at these active webmaster communities. You can get to know them well. From them you can get the words of your business around. You tell them because they are your friend and at some occation, they will tell their friends about it so and so forth.

Another advantage about the forums are that you learn from other people’s questions. I know there are multiple people who ask questions on forum. You probably was having the same issue, or you never heard of the issue. Now you know all about it. You can also ask your questions to public as well. Not just questions, but you can get critiques as well. Perhaps you launched a new website, and you would like to hear what others think. You can ask the community and people will respond to you with their criticism. Some are completely (ass****), but you just have to learn to ignore them.

Often times when you are on forum, you see your competitors. You can evaluate their strategies. You can track down their moves they have laid out for their product. This way you can catch upto them, or surpass them in business.

Forum advertising can be great. Buying Signature links and avatar space is a great way to get your website going. Specially, if you get the avatar space of [...Read the full post]

Displaying Raw Codes in WordPress

This one problem has been a pain for ages. I cannot display raw codes in wordpress. Raw Codes meaning php, html or anything of that sort. Now don’t tell me there is a plugin called Raw Code because I already tried that. It didn’t work. I tried multiple tutorials with the code where you will the Code tag and have different values. It didn’t work.

How the heck would I display Raw Codes in Wordpress especially because I post alot of tutorials that include html and php. Well, I was talking to a good friend of mine Steve over the msn. He told me the trick that he have been using. I tried that and it worked like a charm.

Well this is no plugin. It is simply encoding your html and php tags. Pretty darn simple and easy.

First Go to this site to Encode your Html

Than Copy and Paste the html codes there and click Encode.

Then make this…[Read the full Post]

Images and videos in blog post

Blogs are full of words, or full of ads and yeah this one have ads too… but what you are missing there are lovely pictures. Yeah, your blog is pretty boring if you don’t have pictures or video in it. Personally, I often visit the blogs that have very live content and media is what gives life to the content.

Why I think you should add Media in blog post

I think......

1) If you add a picture in your blog post, It will attarct your users. Trust me, if the picture is good then your user will definately come. For example, if I release a free template without a preview image, not many people will download it, but if i put the preview image for my free template, the download will suddenly increase, and this is proven from experience.

2) Picture describe thousand words. Is that enough for you? NO? well let me explain. If you see when I wrote about Wordpress 2.5 I could’ve taken the route of words and start describing how the dashboard looks, and how the category interface looks, or I can just post couple images and It will be much more easy to comprehend for the users.

3) If you have good pictures such as my free icons post generated alot of traffic, and I noticed that alot of people were entering through that post from search engines, and looking at my other posts as well. Now I dont know if pictures were the reason, but It definately grabbed the users attention and caused them to look at my other posts which makes them a factor.

4) Did you ever wonder sometimes…. [ More in the full post ]

Worst webmaster tool

Google PR is a thing of past now, but majority of webmasters are still stuck with it. The obsession of Pagerank is to an extent that each link purchase on websites, sale of a website and everything else heavily relies around Pagerank. Individually each person will say no i don’t believe that, but it is a sad fact that majority of webmasters still believe in Pagerank.

When I watch sales thread on Digitalpoint, and other places, there is something I find very funny. That would be the statement: My Predicted PR is 5 but the current PR of the website is PR 2. These predicted tools are completely inaccurate.

Iwebtool – the one which have all the tools for webmasters (half of those now don’t even work) have this Google Pagerank Prediction tool. I ran a query for Balkhis just to see what the tool have to say. Now I mean out of all things, this is not what I was expecting…

Balkhis Predicted Pagerank

Even funnier part is the Accuracy because it is so certain that I will get a PR 6. In reality, I only have 15k backlinks and that will not get me anywhere near a PR 6 if blogs like Shoemoney and others are at PR 5. I checked alot of other websites, half resulted in Page Not Loading, and the other half were just pathetic.

Now the point of this post is to begg the new users to not take this tool seriously. This is just a thing to pass time. Play with it, but don’t take it seriously because tools of this type can only get your hopes down. Also stop trying to please google because the more you worry about google, the more your website will suffer.

Do let me know what do you in the result for your website in these tools.

I am now claiming this to be the Worst Webmaster Tool of the year.
