Ok, so I have posted a few times that I was actually beta testing wordpress 2.7 on Balkhis. I even posted a review a while back. Well since that point on, wordpress made some very good changes into the look which makes wordpress admin panel look like that you are using a mac. A lot of mac style graphics.

But that was not the reason why I switched back from wordpress 2.7 to wordpress 2.6.3. I actually switched because some parts were not working. One of them was scheduling a post. If you guys haven’t notice most of the time Balkhis post goes live on 7:30 a.m EST unless planned otherwise. Well I don’t really get up that time and hit the publish button. Scheduled posts feature lets me do it automatically. But for some reason it didn’t work in wordpress 2.7 Beta edition. I am sure it was a minor bug, but I couldn’t deal with it. But I said lets give them a day to fix it.

I tried again, and it wasn’t fixed. But the major downfall was that all of my affiliate links stopped working. Meaning WP-Affiliate was not working with the new version of Wordpress. Now I cannot afford to lose that. I am making most of my revenue from those affiliate links embedded into the posts. If that plugin does not work, I can’t make any money from this site.

That was the main reason why I decided to degrade balkhis from a beta wordpress version that is rich with a lot of other features to the most stable version wordpress 2.6.3.

Balkhis Break Dancing – or a bit of break dancing

So as you know that I headed down to Orlando to have lunch with Market Leverage. Their office is in a very nice area. A lot of other corporate offices are there like Chase, AAA and others. One thing you gotta make sure if you go there is don’t speed because the speed limit is only $35 and the cops are hiding in the bushes. I saw a lot of people getting pulled over.

But anyways ML has been mentioned in the Orlando Business Magazine for being the most innovative work environment. The reason for that is because they are cool. They have a very friendly work environment with great food. Wii room, and everyone have this little cool shooting guns that shoot out foam darts. So it was an awesome trip. They have a very nice lunch room which is also a conference room. There are a lot smaller conference room.

I loved their studio as I got the behind the scenes MLTV looks, but I won’t add it in this post because I will link to the MLTV where I am interviewed with the video of Dina messing up haha lol so wait till this Monday I think. Sorry Dina.

Guys Dina is the best host. She is heck a lot of fun to mess around with and pick on specially if you are wii bowling. But she is a great representative of Market Leverage.

It all started when I searched Balkhis in google, and found one of these sites ranking at #10 saying Balkhis is worth some thousand dollars. So I started playing around today, and wondering how much is Balkhis worth, so I started looking into these automated calculators. I got a chuckle out of those. While I looked at the numbers, I thought it would be nice to share it here and ask you guys a question. So I have a question for you guys. How do you evaluate how much is your site worth? Well while you are thinking the answer to that enjoy some of the funny numbers the sites I found gave me.

According to Website Outlook Balkhis is worth $33,580

According to dnScoop Balkhis is worth $104,236

According to Cubestat Balkhis is worth $29,113.86

So now these numbers are pretty high specially the dnscoop one. Website outlook ranked in the top 10 for the keyword balkhis in google, so I will use them to get the results of some other cool sites that are my regular readers.

One of the good thing these conferences are for is networking. Sure some of the sessions were good and inspiring, but most of it wasn’t entirely new. The main reason why so many people go there is to network, or better “socialize”. Now, if you didn’t know Izea was live online as well on UStream. People were viewing the conference, and making comments.

I am sure some of them were laughing because they get to see the whole thing, and not pay a damn thing. Personally, I think that they did miss a whole heck a lot because right now people who went there have pictures, and more contacts. At least, next time I see these people, they won’t think I am a complete stranger. I got to interact with one of the top bloggers in the industry. None of the people online could say that unless they actually go there.

Guys these conferences are worth going to because you socialize with people in your industry. And Networking is the key to success.

That is me with Ian Fernando. We hung out a lot. I actually took him along the Uzzz crew to a Pakistani food place in Orlando. He was confused there. We also had lunch together at Subway.

Now you know what you missed eh. Well there was a whole heck a lot more in sessions. I will share some of my insights on each session later on this week.
