In my opinion I would recommend everyone who is trying to start a business to use the WordPress platform because it has so much compatibility to it. They are always making updates to improve the platform.

I think no one is ever too sure about their blogging platform. Like I got started on Blogger but once my account was suspended I had to make a quick move to self-hosted wordpress!

Perhaps that is why your goals need to be set out. A lot of people get in and want to put ads. They want to experiment. Which they can’t with a lot of free services. Because either those free services put their ads or won’t let you put ads.

What a comprehensive post! As for whether to start with a free blog or a paid one. I would think that starting with a free blog and then upgrading later would make more sense. No point spending money without earning it, i would say.

You can buy your own domain name even if you run Blogger. $10+ or something. You also can host your Blogger blog on your own hosting.
