Guest Blogging? What to do!
Guest blogging what a great concept it is. You have someone who will write a post on your blog, and it will save you some work and you still make money that day. All for just giving one link to the author. The idea of guest blogging is not what i am criticizing, but i am only arguing about the fact how some of the bloggers are implying it on their blog.
I know there are many bloggers who would not mind getting a link from ProBlogger, John Chow, or Shoemoney’s blog by writing a guest post, and i am sure all these blogging professionals wouldn’t mind a guest post because they can do other things rather than writing a post. While Jeremy of Shoemoney doesn’t do that which is why i am a big fan of him, but i am recently noticing John Chow of Johnchow.com allowing alot of guest posts. Now the blog should be renamed to Guestblog.com rather than john chow. That was just a joke. Alot of the guest posts are quality content, but i saw few of them have minor glitches, and as John Chow is posting it on his blog with a john chow name he should atleast proof-read the post and make editions as he goes along.
Not just John, anyone who allows guest blogging on their blog should atleast read the post and make corrections, and just show the corrections in a different colors. Because then it builds credibility to your blog and makes the reader stay on your blog longer and possibly subscribe because they know that you care about your site, and actually have some interest in your readers as well. If there are not corrections just the bloggers thoughts or opinions at the end of the post perhaps a thank you note for the guest blgoger. It just takes your blog a step higher in my eyes if you do that.
I am always open for guest blog posts, but unfortunately i dont have 20,000 subscribers so not many people want to write here, but its ok because i love writing on my own blog. So there is nothing wrong with them, just make sure that the post you are getting is quality and meets your standards. Feel free to reject them and make corrections. Make sure you give the author credibility by mentioning the link to his site and his name.
Let me give an example: This post at John Chow’s website was guest blogged, and it has one of the things which i believe John could’ve edited or write a sidenote. It said that an awful website will make the user remember the website. John could’ve said which i definately don’t recommend doing so or perhaps even remove that step from the list because it is not necessary.
If possible make a separate author as Guest Blogger rather than posting it under your own name saying Syed Balkhi and then in the bottom say this post was guest blogged by …….. Because you don’t want the user to get the wrong impression of you if they didn’t read that post was not written by you. Your site’s impression to your audience is the most important thing. If you can have a good impression on your audience they will stay with you, if not they will not come back.

Hey, I am Syed Balkhi, The guy who is behind Balkhis Inc. I entered the industry back in 2002 not knowing a single thing. I barely spoke English at that time. In the past six years, my language barrier has been eliminated. Aside from English, now I also speak html, and php. Along with the languages I have also managed to master a few arts. Art of web-designing started when I first entered. Messing around with photoshop, I learned how to create my first web design. Now I founded a web designing firm Uzzz Productions. After running numerous amount of websites in various niche, I have mastered the art of web-development. Now I am compiling a resource of what I already know, and what I am learning on this blog. This resource is to help me if I ever need a guide to look back to, and it is help my fellow webmasters.

yes im also feeling now a days johnchow posting alot of guest posts on johnchow.com
How does John Chow allow guest blogging. Submit directly? Or send john chow an email? If its sending him, he must read it and then post?
I believe you send him an email and the submissions are done through that, but i am saying while alot of the articles he get are well-written they just have few faults. Like the one i mentioned in my post. He could’ve just add that i don’t think this is a good technique or something of that sort to make his credibility higher. It is like he will post anything that is 75% right. I am suggesting that anyone who allows guest blogging adds atleast some of their words in the post as well commenting on some of the aspects at the end of the post. It won’t hurt them but it will only do good as it will show that the owner of the site actually reads the post thoroughly first before displaying it to his/her audience. That establishes credibility because all the people who read the site reads because John Chow is an expert blogger, but if he gives out advices like that what do you think happens…
But I think that it will be a turn off there. If John would tell them that it is not good and so it wont be posted, the people will stop submitting. Not everyone can write perfect.
And even if John would reply back asking to edit, takes a lot of time.
I think John doesn’t take so much care because it shows on top “Guest Blogged”. So if it is not that good as what John writes, people would know ofcourse it is a guest blogged.
And I think John should read it once, edit the part that isnt so good, not remove anything or stuff, but edit out mistakes actually.
yup that is exactly what i am suggesting that he should edit in different color or mention something at the end …because i know it can be a pain if he ask the submitters to fix it.
Guest blogging is good if its controlled and goes off the hook when there are many guest posts.
BTW, i would love to have Syed and others to be my Guest poster on http://www.dentalblogging.com, although my blog is not so popular like you all pro’s!

Sure thing! I’ll get you something by the end of the week. I’ve got a few reviews to work on until then…
Mohamed
Mohamed, it would be great if you let me know if you are interested in posting a guest post in my blog.
I think Guest Blogging is good however if too many users guest blog then your readers start to feel as though you dont care anymore. I know many people that hate when you have excessive guest bloggers because the readers are there mainly to read your content, not someone elses.
I agree enkay some times their are too many guest blogs and their visitors do think that they have stoppped caring.Plus why wouldn’t you want your own work to be on your own site why let some one else take credit for what you have established.
