How to Increase Page Views on your Blog
Hey everyone from Seattle. I arrived here last night, and saw an increase in my blog’s page views recently. Everytime I have been getting an increase I wrote down what I changed, so I think I have collected a good list to share with you guys. I believe by doing the things I share, you are very likely to see an increase also. I keep track of my blog’s page views and other stats because that is one of the things that keeps me motivated. When I do good, I am happy and I want to do better, and when I am not doing so good, I am sad and I want to do better, so both ways keep me motivated.
Lets get on with how to increase page views on your blog. If you don’t know what page views are this is for you. Page views are basically page views per user, and we are trying to increase that. This will not increase unique visitors, but increase the pages viewed by users and can potentially make them your regular user.
Good Content
Quality resourceful content is always a key to attract users. Readers look for various keywords, tutorials, tips, something they can use. If they find a good website for what they are looking for, they will read more on the website to see what other good information this website contains. I found it very common, when I wrote some of my resource articles. Take the article about How to increase an alexa rank of your websites. When I wrote that article, I saw a great increase in my page views because people started reading other posts of mine also.
Interlink your Posts
I have noticed everytime, I interlink my posts I get an increase in page views for my other posts. For example when I am writing about some tactics of increasing the revenue of your blog, I will link to my older resourceful posts like Ways you can make money online with a blog. This is definately something you can try when you have more articles. If you are just starting this might not be a very good one for you.
Series Posting
Series Posting is basically what I did recently with the Proxies. First I wrote about What is a Proxy then I wrote about How to setup a proxy, and finally I wrote about How to advertise / monetize a proxy. Now why do you think this technique work because it uses a combination of other techniques that I will mention or already have mentioned above. One you will interlink your older series post, so new users who ended up on this one will read your other posts. People will click on it just to review when you link it in the top sentence of your post. Another thing is that if the series post are quality posts and something that people are interested in, they will continuously check your blogs to see the update, or subscribe to stay updated. Now it is a win win situation for you when this happens because the user who doesn’t subscribe keep checking on your blog, and they find other thing to read on your blog. The reader who subscribed has now became your loyal users because they are in your subscriber list now.
Comments
A very broad technique. When you write resourceful articles or articles that answer questions it helps when you link to those when someone ask a question. This has worked for me in several different occations. Also when you write quality content, you leave the space for your users to comment. When a user comment the page loads again which means the reader has viewed 2 pages. I have wrote a post about 5 ways to attract commentators to your blog that should help you if you plan on using this technique.
Continuing……(Read More)
This type of technique works very well. Basically when I write long resourceful posts like this one, I will put a summary on the homepage, so the reader would have to hit read more to read the entire post which increases the page views. This is also one of the advantages of Partial Feeds Display.
Resourceful 404 Pages
I wrote about before that I was mentioned in the worst 404 page looks for a decent blog, and I improved my 404 pages since then and I have increased in my bounce rate. People who come looking for something else and don’t find it will see other stuff on my 404 page which catches their attention and they start reading other things. Which definately increases pageviews and also makes a random user intersted in your blog. Isn’t that all we want. Get more people to read our blog.
Search Feature
Blogs that does not contain search feature, or do not emphasize this feature are loosing alot of page views. I try to put the search button always toward the top. Within the first fold, so my users don’t have to look anywhere else. I know personally when I am looking for something, I use the search button and go from there. Imagine sites who doesn’t have the search button. They will loose thousands of users like me because I don’t go around in each categories to look for something that I want because that wastes time, and Time is MONEY.
If you do the techniques described above, they will definately increase your page views. Atleast they have for me. I have always wanted to write this post, but I wanted to have a good list before I share them all with you guys. Let me know how it works for you, and which one has been the best one for you.
