Adsense, how to make more money

Dear Readers, I would like to thank you for reading this post. I highly value your feedback and would like to know more about my readers. Follow me on Twitter

This post is going to be relatively short compared to others. I am going to share my experience with adsense and what methods helped me get the best results. For those of you who don’t know what adsense is, you seriously need help. It is a money making opportunity offered by Google.

As you guys know there are different sizes that adsense comes in and you can use it all. There is a policy in adsense that you can only display 3 ads on one page. Even if you have the codes, they won’t display on the page, and just leave a blank space there. Well so how exactly do you monetize adsense with those 3 ads.

You need to embed the ads in the site. For example, make it seem like that it is a part of a content. For instance, if your site’s background is white, then make the adsense’s background white, and the text color the same as your original text color. This will increase your chances of getting more clicks because it is harder for people to distinguish them.

Which banner ad size works best? In my experience 336 x 280px google adsense size gives the best outcomes. They provide the best outcome when they are toward the top and are embedded in the content. Ad locations for the blog would be post pages in the post if you are putting. It is a complete waste if you put it in the sidebar because you would hardly ever get clicks. I do get a few clicks at the top of the site with the image ads 468 x 60, but When I put it in the middle of the post It didn’t work out well.

Another thing I would suggest that adsense is not a very big money maker on webmaster blogs. They would work very well on content sites that are not targetting webmasters because webmasters don’t tend to click on ads. Industries such as Real Estate, Mortgage, Loan, Finance tend to have really high CTR so you are going to get good returns.

I just wanted to share this little excerpt with the users who are trying to embed adsense in their sites. Chetan this was inspired by your question ;) .

Good post Syed..

Yea i read in many places that 468×60 in the post delivers lesser clicks that outside the post content. I was totally confused always about ad placement, and you made some points clear :)

Thanks for sharing your experience. Good point that webmasters tend not to click ads. Some kinds of users are more susceptible than others — search engine clicks convert more than stumbleupon or digg clicks, although those are still good for getting more publicity.

Thanks for a nice post.
As you can see on my blog, I placed a single banner above content and its working good too.

I liked this line the most “Another thing I would suggest that adsense is not a very big money maker on webmaster blogs” one has to understand this big basic that adsense is not the end and one should always think of alternate ways… Good Post

The best ad placement for large rectangle ads is just above the comment box (above this box where I am currently writing).

Nah that wouldn’t be such a nice spot in my opinion because as you can move the comment box around … I wonder how that would work with adsense.

I have tried doing that and some readers find it quite bothersome. I think its good to put it in a post where someone can recognize that its an ad. You wouldnt want people to accidentally click the ad and dislike you for deceiving them.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Thats a good point you made there. People try to get readers to accidentally click ads. Nice thinkin

I agree with you about the adsense ad size. I think the square ad blocks that are embedded in blog posts also seem to do well.
