How to increase the sale of ads on your website?

Ever wonder, why people are not buying ads on your website? I know I used to as well when I first started, but It all went away as I begin to understand the psychology. I always wondered what can I do to maximize my sales. I tried several ways and failed, but I learnt from my failure alot and these are the important key points.

Lets establish this first, that your website will not sell ads if you don’t have quality content, High traffic, Credibility and SERPs. You need to wait out in the beginning and keep your ads sale limited and work on quality content of your website. If you are thinking that by starting a blog or a website will get you money quick that is wrong. Because you won’t get anything. You have to work on establishing the site first before you start making serious money.

Quality Content builds slowly. Especially in blogs because you will need a number of quality posts to be classified as a quality blog. Same with credibility. If a person say one thing good doesn’t mean he will always be right. Therefore credibility comes with time as well. Same goes to popularity and traffic. Now establishing that you have all of the above

You should do the following to sell ads quickly..

Remove all the open banner ads saying Advertise here, because that shows no one is buying the ads on your website, and It takes away your potential buyers. The buyers think why others are not buying. I should not buy either (People are hesitant to be the first one). If you have 6 spots total and only 2 are sold then only display 3 total not 6 total. Because if you only show 3 that means only 1 spot is available, and when there is only one spot available people want to jump right in because they don’t want to be the person to miss out on the offer.

Keep an easy access to your advertise page. Always show the user that they can advertise on your website. For example below the banners maybe show Advertise Here with a link, or you can have a separate page that shows advertising option.

Have a limited number of slots on your website for ads. A limit for ads are necessary for your website. You need to be very careful when making the choice because You need to consider that your content is taking the better part of the page. Because your users are going to look at that. Keeping the limited number of advertisers increase your potential buyers because people would want to stay in the line.

You need to make sure that you keep good relationships with your clients. Offer them long term discounts, so perhaps if they buy for 1 month and it is costing them $30, maybe give them a discount for 3 months they will only pay $75 which means they will buy for 3 months. You will sell more ads that way.

Make the process of the purchase easy for them. Always allow them to see all the options that you have available. Thats why I am using OIOPublisher because it makes it easy for the user and it shows them other options as well. Look at my Advertise Page.

Following these methods, It should definately increase the sale of ads on your website.

I believe the general idea is the same for every website :) But OIOpublisher is only for blogs :p

Investment is a part of a business. Besides it is only $37. I am sure your blogs / directories make you enough money to afford this but your choice :)

I think $37 is not a bad price to pay specially if you can recoup your investment within a short period of time. I would like to see how OIO has helped others.

Excellent Tips here that will definitely help me out. I noticed that contacting certain bloggers and ad networks will also get your ad blocks to sell fast but high quality contest is a BIG reqiurement that many people lack.
