Smart way to display Affiliate Ads
Before I go on with this post, I would like to say I hope everyone who celebrates Easter had a nice Easter. My easter turned out to be my make up day where I catched up on my sleep as I slept about 12 hours.
Lets go back to the topic. How many of you have affiliate ads on your websites. I know I see alot of the people have affiliate ads on their blogs and their websites. Alot of bloggers consider that smart way to display the ads is by hiding the url completely, or encrypting the url so the user doesn’t see that the link is an affiliate link.
Alot of people find a better solution to this problem and that is by just adding JavaScript ads. If you use Commision Junction, Azoogle Ads , or many others… you will see that there is an option to display link through Javascripts. Alot of people tend to choose that option why because it says that it helps them keep a better track of you. I dont know how many can prove that, but there is certainly disadvantages to that and that is why I believe that is not the smart way to go.
First of all, we all know that JavaScripts are not supported in alot of computers because the user never bothered to install it. Second, JavaScripts increase the loading time of your website, and lastly it can really screw up your website in different browsers. Therefore I believe that users should use the html code method the affiliate ads have. Why do I prefer that? Because you have full control over the ad that you are displaying as in you can change the image if you like. You can use the url with a text rather than with an Image.
Another advantage of using the html version is it does not increase the load on your website. Javascripts takes more time to load then html that is why it is the first tip given to you if you are trying to decrease the load time of your website, cut down the number of javascripts. Why is that for those who don’t know. Because if you have a javascript from another server, your server will actually reach the other server get the information from them, and then display it to your users.
Always try to keep the affiliate image on your own server. I like doing that because if cj.com or any other company faces a little downtime, it will impact your website because your images won’t show, but if you have the affiliate url and you have the image on your server, it won’t ruin the look of your website. That is why I upload the images on my own server and use the html codes whenever I find it necessary.
Another smart technique to display affiliate ads is embeddin them in the context. I found this way very useful and made alot of money through this. All you have to do is when you are writing a post, find the service related to that and get their affiliate ads on your blog. If you embed the ad with your content then you will win.
Affiliate ads make alot of money if it is related to your content, and your content needs to be very specific to match the affiliate ads. Alot of people make their living on these marketing strategies and I am one of those. Follow these tips and you will be a step closer to victory.

Yeah javascript tends to slow down page load time and decreasing your load time could mean adding to your readership.
