Web Business 101 for Beginners

Interestingly today i realized how hard it is to explain about web business to someone who is completely unaware of this world. I was at my part time job (Publix, Grocery store), a colleague of mine started a conversation which some how got pointed toward the directions of internet. We started talking and i started telling him about how online business is and how it works. It was a complete shock how difficult it is to understand for some people.

Therefore i decided to write this post for those who are new or just trying to learn a little about how web business works. First of all, the key thing in online business is trust and reputation. Without these two, it is extremely hard for one to survive.

Starting with the fact that you need a well designed website, but there is much more to do before making a website. Such as registering a domain, and getting webhosting. I didn’t think i would need to mention these points until today. People think making websites is like geocities, or angelfire. I asked the person and they are like yeah i have a website at geocities. I am like what is your domain (Answer: Blank). Well a domain name is a name that you want your website to be called with an extension such as .com, .net, .org, .info etc etc.

It doesn’t much at all to register a domain name, (Maximum $8) for the popular extensions such as .com or .net

Key fact: You have to make sure that the domain is not violating any Trademark rights because there have been multiple lawsuits about using key brands to give your product an advantage.

Once that is done, you need to get the website up and running. You can either choose to code it yourself which for beginners is a pretty hard job, or you can find a web designing company, to do the job for you.

Once your website is ready, you might be thinking how exactly am i going to make money. Well you need to scroll to the top of this website and look at the recommended ways of making money. Sign up to these services, once/if you get approved place their ads on your website and you can earn revenue while gain a whole new experience.

There is alot of ways or promoting the website which i will not go into much details in this post and will go in detail in each post one by one. Few ways are Submitting to Directories, Adwords, Buying text links, forum posts etc.
