Pimp My Blog August 2008 – Indocontest Pimped Look
Alright I know you all have been waiting for this one. Pimp My Blog August 2008 winner was indocontest. I was giving him time to upload the design, but apparently he hasn’t uploaded it. I am very upset with the way Pimp My Blog is going because the only site that is using the pimped theme is Vol Cars Blog. Last month’s winner still hasn’t uploaded the site.
So I think I will stop the random picks!!! Yes, it sounds fair to me because I don’t want to give this opportunity to those who will not use it. Because some people are undecided with what they want. Like last month’s winner had multiple mind sets change. So if you get pick remember, you only get one chance to explain. You cannot come later on and say you want an entirely different thing. The rules I will be changing for the future.
The following rules are:
Must be subscribed to Balkhis.com via email. Which is kept the same. So if you haven’t subscribe, subscribe right now because this is a must.
Next factor that will play is you need to explain to me why you need the pimped blog. So I will be strongly considering my top commentators for the pick now because I would rather reward my active users then the ones who just subscribe and never come back again. Trust me I will know with the email who is active and who is not. So Top Commentators will be a heavily focused.

Hey, I am Syed Balkhi, The guy who is behind Balkhis Inc. I entered the industry back in 2002 not knowing a single thing. I barely spoke English at that time. You should have some rules and make them agree that the winner has to upload the design within some small time period. In that way, this would work, or else expect nothing for your work Syed.

Syed, I’m very sorry for not uploaded your theme till now.
I’ve some problems with the header and footer section cause it can not customizable(when i put some banner on footer they will be appear on sidebar).
The theme also not widget able too. I successfully made they widget able from your tutorial but all the widget has orderer list in front of links.
I’m using WP 2.5.2 so i can not preview the theme. Like I said to you. I working on it now but i need time cause I’m not a pro, also I’m holding my own contest to now.
If you ever visit my blog, there is time when your theme show up, that is when i try to fix it.
But trust me, I definitely use it cause it made exclusive for my blog. I just need more time to be able customize it especially some banner cause i got paid for it.

That’s understandable Indo, it can take some time to implement all that stuff and we all know that life gets in the way. I recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress, which is 2.6.2 right now. Go to WordPress.org and download the latest version. It’s pretty simple to upgrade! Upgrading to 2.6.2 might fix the problems you’re having.
@Chetan: Sure, Honestly I love Syed’s theme. Lots of bloggers use my current theme especially with same niche. lol.
@QuickPWN: Thanks. I received Syed’s theme last week and I’m busy with my contest and some my affiliate stuff. I’ve InstantIpgrade plugin, I just searching and waiting if 2.6.2 has a hole or something. hahaha… JK. I’ve upgrade to my other blog, So far I like 2.5.2 more…

The indoncontest current theme is nice. There’s an overcrowding of ads which is not the right thing to do.
im expecting to see the theme live soon on the site.
btw Syed, i totally agree with your new rules. I have already mentioned before that you should reward your most active users instead of random pickings.

From what Indo has said it seems that the themes you are creating aren’t really user friendly, especially if he has had to widgetize it himself. Maybe you could clear this up?

I have offered to help. But I can only do so if I have ftp access. I offered in the first emails when he said it wasn’t widget ready. I directed him to the tutorial, and said if you need any help let me know. Days passed no response … and once I posted this today I got his email to take a look at it
and I am waiting for access now..
It’s nice of you to offer this FREE service to Indo and help him get his design out. Good job Balkhis!

You could told me what plugins should install and I install it for ya. I have sent USER and PASS to my subdomain blog i made to test your theme.
Like I said before, I’m busy but I try working on it everyday and about my email today, it’s not because this post.
It’s very hard to customize your theme so I’ve decide to make it not widget able.
why not make the themes widget ready from the beginning?
I don’t know. I never use themes with no widget ready before. So this is the first time i work with it.
When I ask Syed about it. I only got this answer:

Well I guess the hard part is, you come up with a design but it turns out to be “worse” than the theme that they are using at the moment.
When I say “worse”, it’s relative. Sometimes A may like your design but B may not. So it’s kind of hard for everyone, I guess.
Kind of sad that the winners are not ready to use the pimped blog designs you make with all the work that goes into one. I think I have seen all the designs you have done for your contest and thought that they all turned out excellent..

Hi Syed, your idea to change the rules certainly makes sense. In my case, I would like to give my 2 cents.
Though I had many changes in mind, I accepted the theme what you designed for my blog.
The reason not to upload it is not because I did not like it and it’s not the way I want – but there are personal reasons.
I am in process of moving my home from one country to another, and would be searching for a new job. This makes me really difficult to find time to even post regularly on my blog. I have like 10-15 reviews pending to be done.
I don’t have a team as such, and working alone on many things. Be sure, that I would be working on it whenever I would get to breathe from my settlement in new country.
But certainly, the design you have come up with is one of the best… and today’s comment is also proof to tell you that from whatever RSS subscriptions I receive, I don’t miss yours and Shoemoney’s posts. First thing is both of you post daily, your posts are more practical and useful for bloggers like me.

Congrats on getting it up. It looks good but the comments don’t show up on any page, you need to get that fixed! Your sidebars don’t show up on the inner pages either, just on the main page. So it still has some bugs that needs to be fixed.

It’s unfortunate for Syed that he puts in all the work only to not get any of the reward of having people recognize the new theme and being able to see that it is his.
That’s why we’re ready for our blog to be pimped, so that we can showcase Syed’s hard work and give him the credit he deserves.

@Blue – I would love a new theme design too… not so much for me but for the organization that I volunteer at. They are a non-profit organization and everything they have is donated. We just have to keep our fingers crossed since the sites our randomly picked by the computer.
A new theme for them could be a tax write off Syed???
