Trip to WordCamp NYC and Future Plans
So this past weekend I was in New York City attending WordCamp NYC. This conference was great because I got to network with some of the most awesome people. It was great to learn more about the WordPress community and most of all, it was great to see how many people actually knew about my site WPBeginner. It was being used by the speakers in their presentation which was definitely something I was very proud of.
So we stayed in Sheraton at the Meadow Lands Plaza, East Rutherford, NJ. I have learned my lesson not to drive in NYC, so I did not waste a lot of time. Trains and Subways all the way. Now this was by far one of the best conference and it was really cheap. $40 << That's it.... Those who did not go missed a great social networking opportunity.
I met:
Matt Mullenweg, Founder of WordPress
Brian Gardner from StudioPress
Jane Wells, Interface and experience designer for WordPress
Jeff from WPTavern
Daisy Olsen from WP Mama
Lisa Sabin-Wilson, Author of WordPress for Dummies book
Adria Richards from Freshworkshops
And Many Many Other people.
Aside from meeting these awesome people, I had a blast in Time Square LOL.
Well the plan in the future is that I am definitely attending WordCamp Orlando which is scheduled for Dec. 5th 2009. So for those of you who are in the area, it is definitely a great one to attend.
Thanks Giving is coming next week, so I am planning for the Black Friday Shopping. And most importantly, Zain’s Birthday is coming next Tuesday. He will be turning 6 years old now. I changed his blog to a single page website, which we do plan to build more on some day.
If you are in the affiliate marketing industry, Market Leverage has a great offer for Christmas which I think will provide great results. This offer is Santa Letters from the North Pole. From personal experience, a lot of parents and grandparents buy these, so it would be a great success in PPC and Mommy Blogs. A few extra bucks can help you buy Christmas presents for your loved ones too
I would like to speak at WordCamp Orlando, so lets hope they accept my proposal because I think I can give an awesome presentation on the topics I suggested them, so if you would like to see me speak, then send them a message (Shameless lobbying lol)

Hey, I am Syed Balkhi, The guy who is behind Balkhis Inc. I entered the industry back in 2002 not knowing a single thing. I barely spoke English at that time. In the past six years, my language barrier has been eliminated. Aside from English, now I also speak html, and php. Along with the languages I have also managed to master a few arts. Art of web-designing started when I first entered. Messing around with photoshop, I learned how to create my first web design. Now I founded a web designing firm Uzzz Productions. After running numerous amount of websites in various niche, I have mastered the art of web-development. Now I am compiling a resource of what I already know, and what I am learning on this blog. This resource is to help me if I ever need a guide to look back to, and it is help my fellow webmasters.

Hi, sorry for posting of the topic but I really like to thank you on having developed a great site http://www.wpbeginner.com/
and I have one suggestion also can you include a step by step guide on developing a wordpress blog into a standalone website.
whose web is this?
@Oes,
That website is Syed’s website the blog owner of Balkhis the current blog you are on! =D
I hope that helps.
Till then,
Jean
Congratulations on your trip, the recognition for WPBeginner, and yes, I shall fall for your lobbying.
Those are some great people to have met. Good thing that Wpbeginner is getting the notoriety that it has. I sent wordcamp a message for ya.
well nice to hear that. I attended wordcamp philippines here in my country and its an awesome event as well..
Hey that was definitely an enormous opportunity to meet some important people. Social networking is really crucial when you sit on the driving seat of a business. It’s really difficult for me to attend such seminars as I do not live in the US but I will be updated thanks to you.
The Wordcamp NYC seemed to be really good and on top it’s very cheap. For 40 bucks it’s a total bargain. Looking forward to get updates from you for Wrodcamp Orlando. That was indeed a superb post.
Its great to see that they talked about your blog at the conference. Im glad you had a great time in NYC.
No sign of any posts since the 18th Syed! All well?
Congratulation on nice and safe trip
I heard it is VERY expensive, but I’m going to move there anyways. I’m bringing about $4000-$5000 for starting to give me time to get a job. Question: Will that give me time for about 2 months (living in one bedroom) food, transportation, etc? Or I need more money? Other questions, is New York City a nice place to live? And would I have to bring my own furniture?
It must have been very exciting to hear other people talk about your blog. Good luck on getting accepted as a speaker for wordcamp Orlando. I’m sure you would do a great job based on all of the valuable insight you provide on your blogs.
What is WordCamp exactly? I assume it has to do with internet marketing obviously.
I like the Christmas idea. How much are affiliate commission are they paying out on that?
Happy holidays!
WordCamp is a group of WordPress users that get together. It is a local event organized by the local developers and users with the help of WordPress parent company Automattic. It is a mini conference basically.
Congratulations on your trip. How was the Black Friday day? Still no updates
?
Glad to see that your life is full of events and plans for future.Hope they will come true!
