What is Web Hosting Search?

Web Hosting Search is a company created by professional webmasters who have had experience with webhosts in past years. This site consist of a list of different webhosts sorted from good to bad. Cheapest to more advanced webhosts. This is basically a one stop shop. Pick the host you like, go to that host and get your hosting. All to all, this is not just reviewed by few people, every user is allowed to put their reviews about the webhost, so you get to hear what others think about the company before you sign up and have a bad experience.

Enough with the description of the site lets get on to see some of the features that they have.

Starting with the first glance of the page, you will see a navigation that shows the categories by which the hosts are categorized. These categories are as listed, Cheap Web Hosting, Dedicated Servers, Reseller Web Hosting etc etc.All hosts are sorted by the prices. A feature that would be nice to have which this site lack is the sorting option for users where they can see a list by highest ranking score, or worst ranking score.

Though their advanced search menu makes up for the lack of the feature that I think they should still have.

As you can see in the screenshot, this search method, will let you specify your settings and then run the search in their database to find the right host for you. Making your search webhosting search easy. I think that should be the new slogan for this website.

If you decide to go into a category such as Shared Webhosting, you will see top 10 providers on the first page and the pagination at the bottom. You can click on each host’s review button to read the reviews and specs about their company. What I like is that the detail page is very well organized and user-friendly.

If the webhost have different plans, they are shown in the tab, so the user can select between the tab. Also, users can see advanced options which shows things such as the extra features that come in with the plan. What I noticed was that their javascript doesn’t function correctly with the advanced feature when you change plans.

Well this is another cool feature I liked about their website that they show the rating in a very clean manner along with the pros and cons. Below that they explain the way they rate on every detail page. On the left hand side of the page, they show customer testimonials. What I found that some of the more expensive webhosts, even though they have ratings on those webhosts, but no customer review which makes me wonder how credible those percent ranks are. Each Detail page consist of an extensive description of the webhost along with the date the webhost was established and where are they located. An interesting feature to see there would be actual geo location such as a map of the headquarters of the webhosting company. The detail page also shows the number of websites hosted by that specfic web host. On each page that has a review the website shows a text that ask users to submit their review about that webhost, but one thing that I found that it only shows that message on pages where the reviews are already there. And leave out pages like this where there are no review text there, so if the user directly find that page through a search engine, they will not know how to write their review. Another thing that I think is not as effective is it can be is the way the users submit the review. It would be much better if they have a separate form rather than just their contact form to recieve reviews from users. The separate form which allows user to give the host stars, and fill out info will make it easier for users.

They have made it even a better resource for their users by adding an article section where you can find useful articles about web hosting, Web Design / Programming and Domain Names. What you know, no one can stay away from blogs. They also have a blog section where I believe 3 professionals write about their specific field. Sadly the blogs are dead as the recent one haven’t had a post since a month with one of them being inactive since December 2007. I believe it is better to remove such blogs than to show the users that we are the proud owner of an inactive blog.

Overall, I would rank this site a 7.5 out of a 10 because they have a very nice and user-friendly interface, but some of the feature this service lack as well as the points I mentioned about the no reviews make me question the reliability of the score. But all to all this is one of the better resource on the web where you can find a right web host in a short amount of time.
