Greedy for Backlinks

Greed is the key to trouble and carries man to hardship. Having that said i want to start and get right into the topic which is Greedy for Backlinks. Many webmasters tend to get greedy about the backlinks and starting to get backlinks in every possible way or shape they can. In this post i will discuss the ways you should not go about to get backlinks for your website as it can significantly damage the reputation of your website.

Many Webmasters are a part of big webmaster communities such as Digitalpoint and others. In these forums you will see many service providers offering their services. One of the most common ones are 1000 manual directory submissions. In that deal, the service provider guarantees a report in the end, and quality work done. Here are my stands on this. A person cannot submit to 1000 directories manually and provide a report in the end because just imagine how much time it will take for the user to actually show that he used your website and the anchor because some people go as far upto showing Submission Failed, Submission Successful. You guys need to be smarter than that because it is obvious they are using some automated software to submit your website. Not only that, i have gotten complaints in the past and have first hand experience in these services that some of these submitters will submit your website to a web directory without paying the review fee. Which will result in the editor of the directory to delete your link and get a negative image of your website. Whereas the service provider got his money and is having a drink somewhere with his friends. Now you paid for a service and gained some people who dislike your website. Not a very benficial deal for you. My advice is to avoid all Directory Submission Service that are offered on these forums. Especially the ones that charge $25 for 6000 directory submission because you should know that you will get what you are paying for and paying $25 for 6000 directory submissions is not a normal price.

Next thing you want to avoid is spamming blogs. Yeah I know how much fun it is when you see a blog letting you get a top a commentator spot. A sitewide link why not. Lets just post whatever i want just to gain the comment count. No ! This is Wrong. You can get your domain and IP Banned from the blog. I have banned a few already on balkhis because of the spam. Do not post just to increase your comment count, but ONLY post if you have something constructive to say. If you write constructive comments it will gain you respect and get you free promotion as well, but abusing it due to greed can only have negative influence on your websites.

Don’t just buy backlinks on all the websites. One more time i would like to highlight this point again. Do not buy links on the websites that are not related to your niche because it is not going to do any good for your website, but it is increasing your chances of getting penaltised in google. Also untargetted traffic cannot do any good other than waste your money for advertisement on that website.

Next thing you want to stay away form is posting your url on forums. Alot of people have this thing that they would post their link in each of their forum post whether it is something related to their site or not. I would strongly recommend you not to post links on forums just for that reason because there are significant chances of you getting permanently banned from the forum but if you are in a commmunity where there are alot of people they will get a negative impression of you and won’t bother to visit your website and all you are doing is burning your bridges there because these people could have been the ones to spread your words around.

These are some of the ways that Greed for backlinks can destroy your career in this industry. I suggest you pay close attention to these and follow these advices. If you have more to share feel free to post them in the comment box

Great tips in this article. Backlinks are good, but only the ones that matter (no spam, related content, etc.).

Fantastic article. There are millions of websites on the internet, but unfortunately, few of them utilize the website promotion methods needed to produce guaranteed profits.

I have to agree to watch out for those submission services. I have seen where some of those directories on their list, share the same database.
