Importance of Anchor Text in Internal Linking
Search Engine Optimization. Sounds confusing but really it is a system built on small and simple methods. Anchor text in Internal Linking is just another one of those small tricks. We all know internal linking is something that we should do. It increase your page views and help ranking of your pages. Well just internal linking doesn’t do the job. You need to choose your anchor texts carefully.
A lot of people when they write about their previous posts they use anchor texts such as click here or so. It is of habits. I know I do it a lot as well. But I do it for posts that I don’t really care about. If I want to rank high for some keyword I try to be descriptive in my anchor text.
For Example:
You want to market your site. Check out 13 ways I promoted my Blog.
I could’ve easily said to check how I promoted my self, click here. The click here is not the way to go for important posts.
This change might not sound like a big deal, but remember that drop of water makes an ocean. Start with a drop and you will have your own ocean.

Art of web-designing started when I first entered. Messing around with photoshop, I learned how to create my first web design. Now I founded a web designing firm Uzzz Productions. After running numerous amount of websites in various niche, I have mastered the art of web-development. Now I am compiling a resource of what I already know, and what I am learning on this blog. This resource is to help me if I ever need a guide to look back to, and it is help my fellow webmasters.

Yeah..you have a point there, there’s a great importance of anckor text in internal linking so that a lot of people will come and visit our sites through the link that we exposed.
I try to make my anchor text as descriptive as I can but sometimes I get mental blocks and they end up duds but I’m working on that.
Great post.
This is something I do with my site and I mix it up as much as possible; some links are just a ‘click here’ link while others are more descriptive like the example you gave above.
I’ve noticed an increase in page-views since focusing on this tactic.

Karl
a good idea, and I also have implemented the above ideas on my blog.
thanks syed
I didn’t think that anchor text in international linking was so important.People usually don’t pay attention to small things and lose big opportunities. That was agood guide to action.
I agreed with you 100%. I find most link from affiliate programs I promote have “click here” on them and I always change them to something more inline with the offers.
Excellent advice. It is also a good idea to use the keyword that you are focusing on in each post at the beginning at that post.
Just a basic SEO technique
Thanks for the tip. I have included your post in my Sunday Link Love post
Have a must read section? Think that helps quite a bit..
anchor text in international linking is very important in seo specially if you used your keywords this will rank you good for this keyword in search engines .
Surely this is now a must seo technique, but also very important is not to forget title attribute in some cases, because google sees that tag as description for given link also.
I’ve really been alert and aware of SEO on my main site as of just recently. Great tip, I always do it.
Great info! I just reworked my website changed all of the anchor tags, changed the alt image tags, etc, etc, and wow!! My page jumped from page 14 to page 2 on google. These are based on tips from this site!
Thank you,

No, what you say is of vital importance. How you anchor your link can increase or decrease the traffic to that page as well as the content page.
From what I have seen and of course my own experience people tend to be in too much of a rush to get things done. A great example of this would be all the emails I get where immediately after I get a second one apologizing for the fact they forgot to add the link to the first email.
Slow down people and think before you click your mouse that final time.

What a waste of a perfectly good linking opportunity when you don’t mention what the link is about in the actual link.
Yes, Anchor Text is extremely important in improving the SERP.
that a helpful information.
Hi
You say you use “click here” for some posts that you don’t really care about. The trouble with that is that you are weakening the pagerank on all the other links on that page.
It would be much wiser to just not link at all.
Pages you do want to rank high for then yes, you should use anchor text, sometimes it can take one internal link to rank high for certain keyword phrases.

This is something that I am really pushing lately in my own blog. Doing more internal linking to site resources.
I also think it is important to link out at times which I am trying to get better at.
I’ve heard some people tell me that anchor text doesn’t effect much, but I guess with SEO, nobody can be totally sure. If it works for you, I’ll give it a shot. I don’t see it hurting anything, unless it somehow ends up registered as spam.
Out of curiosity, I checked and Adobe ranks first for “click here” and DoubleClick is second, then Apple, then Adobe again…
Yes indeed, internal linking are very important for SEO. I would recommend everyone to use the full path of the path (in linking internal pages) and to use a keyword when linking.
Anchor text is definitely important. There are many link scrapers that will pick up your links and repost them just as they are posted originally — This is an easy way of getting more links to your content…
Another quick tip is to use deep-linking for your links. Many people focus on advertising their main page, but forget that the other pages of their site are equally important for overall site rankings. Design some quality “link-bait” type articles that are link worthy, then market those through your linking efforts on blog comments, forum posts, etc.
Hope this helps
I’d say offsite anchor text is more important but onsite can definitely add up to some serious juice. Plus you can control your own site and use what ever anchor text you want.
Internal linking is more helpful for Yahoo rankings, but it is definitely something worth doing right. It helps establish relevancy for each page on your site. Sometimes it does make sense to use a ‘click here’ type link, but you can make that nofollow and include a dofollow keyword rich link somewhere on that page. Although you can randomly use keywords in all of your internal links and have some success, it is much better to properly research which keywords are worth using in links. Try some of these free keyword research tools to help pick keywords that actually get searched for on a regular basis.
I do disagree with some of the comments, Some sites like BBC,CNN do really well in the search engines and rank highly for very competitive keywords. None of these keywords are being optimised using target anchor text. Explain this? What you see will be the full URL and sites spend hours using anchor text to improve their rankings..
I agree. Click here is an old habit that needs to be broken. Why waste what could be little extra juice for your rich keyword content with non relevant click here? even if the page is of little importance, keep in mind that every extra bit of unique relevant content will still help your landing or keyword rich pages.
No doubt anchoring links influences thr traffic to the page.So that problem is of great importance.
Savings, huge sites like cnn and bbc are the exception to many seo rules. With such huge sites, you can really just ride all the natural backlinks that the site would generate over the years. When your overall domain strength is so high, you can get away with ignoring some seo strategies. Then your internal pages can rank well simply due to the strength of the domain.
I even didn’t think that it is so important,so many aspects and itis very difficult to take it into consideration. It is very nice of you to turn our attention to it.
Anchoring text, surely makes a deal of difference. Thanks for sharing man
Wen a page is viewed, users will scroll down to view its contents, once they r done with tat page n want to move on, they will not ve the patience to move all the way to the header to find the next navigation..
Yes anchor text has a great importance when it comes to optimising your website. Internal linking is really very important. A drop of water makes an ocean. That’s really cool man…
