Do Follow Comments (New Icons and more)
Do Follow Comments is a popular technique used among bloggers to increase comments on their blog. If you don’t know what Do follow comment means let me explain.
Do Follow Comments – is a technique used by bloggers in which they exchange comments. More like you comment on my blog, and I will return the favor. These bloggers also make the link on the comments dofollow.
Now how the heck do you find out which blog is using Do Follow and which one is not?
Usually they put some ugly button like this one:

Now if you know me, I am a graphics freak, and I am very picky when it comes to designs. I don’t like the design of it.
Now I have shared tricks before on how to attract commentators on your blog. But showing people the button is another nice way of attracting comments.
Well I don’t show this button. Several reasons why?
- I don’t want to lie – I try to leave comments on my readers blog, but only if I find something to say. If I don’t like your blog, I won’t comment. If I like the blog, but don’t find anything constructive to say, then I won’t say it. So if I say, you comment I follow. I will be lying therefore I didn’t put it.
- Too Lazy – I think I am just lazy or never got around putting it in the sidebar. It is just that when I think I am using a custom design, the default button just don’t go along and I don’t think it is something that I need on my site.
But should you get this button? Well that is a personal choice. It depends on what type of campaign you are running. If you have no advertising budget, and just want to increase your commentators and readers. Then do it. If you have a new blog and want to increase readers, then commenting on other blogs is very nice. And if someone comment on your site then go back and comment on theirs.
But if you really decide to put a button on do you really want to put that ugly button. Well to solve that issue, I made a new set of buttons.

Well you can either copy and paste the images from here, or I have it available for a download all in one in a zip package.

Hey, I am Syed Balkhi, The guy who is behind Balkhis Inc. I entered the industry back in 2002 not knowing a single thing. I barely spoke English at that time. In the past six years, my language barrier has been eliminated. Aside from English, now I also speak html, and php. Along with the languages I have also managed to master a few arts. Art of web-designing started when I first entered. Messing around with photoshop, I learned how to create my first web design. Now I founded a web designing firm Uzzz Productions. After running numerous amount of websites in various niche, I have mastered the art of web-development. Now I am compiling a resource of what I already know, and what I am learning on this blog. This resource is to help me if I ever need a guide to look back to, and it is help my fellow webmasters.

Really nice set of icons. I really like them! Good Job!
“You can use the download link of my server. Don’t upload on your server.”
Does that mean don’t host the image we are using locally?
P.S. Why do you have two checkboxes for followup comments by email?
one at the top and one at the bottom, so users see it.
What I meant was you can use the images and upload them to your site… Don’t upload the zip file on your server.
Nice icons but is that what ‘U comment I follow’ is all about??
By default, the links that you provide in comments are ‘nofollow’. What that means is that google does not consider those as links. Google does not follow it. Therefore you don’t get any link juice from it. This is a move to prevent spammers.
What I thought about ‘U comment I follow’ is that people have taken out the nofollow tags. Therefore you do get link juice from the site. This encourages more comments! Correct me if I’m wrong, but it does not mean that the blogger will come and comment on your blog
I think it means both things. Atleast thats how I saw it. I noticed alot of times when I go in those blogs, they will come to my blog and comment.
About Nofollowing comments, it is pretty stupid in my opinion. I think one can moderate their comments easily.
“About Nofollowing comments, it is pretty stupid in my opinion. I think one can moderate their comments easily.”
Umm… your comments are on nofollow.
Let me correct myself. I mean no following top commentators are stupid because you can easily control it. If people try to spam comments and try to get the top spot so they get sitewide link and exposure you can block that.
So what about comments in general – I see yours are no follow – why do you choose that vs no-no follow or however they put it today.
consider a post with 100+ comments .. meaning you have 100+ external links on one page. Now I don’t think I need to say any more.
That is a good point.
That is what I found, after commenting on at least 50 ‘you comment I follow’ blogs I was lucky to get one person who reciprocated. heck, not only did they not leave a comment, hardly anyone even decided to follow me to my blog. It was then that i cam to the conclusion that it was merely to remove the no-follow tags so that Google etc could follow.
I was so enchanted I decided to start You Comment And I Will Follow And Comment On Your Blog. I am hoping that this will encourage more people to leave good quality comments.
I like to see that you have taken this step Sire. One of the issues that could’ve happened was you weren’t commenting on popular blogs. I know I have commented on John Chow’s blog, Shoemoney, Problogger…. They each bring me over 100 – 300 visitors a month.
Now it could be because you weren’t commenting on major blogs. Or the other thing would be that no one found your comments interesting enough.
Sorry but I don’t comment on alot of users whose comments are not interesting. But I did see your post. Didn’t comment yet …
Your concept is ok but your graphics is not the kind that I will promote. But thats just me.
[...] you’d like an attractive new ‘do follow’ graphic Balkhis has new do follow icons available for [...]
Thanks for these great new icons…so much better than the old ugly ones!
Thanks alot, was kinda tired of the old one
, got it on my blog; the black version
Cheers!
Syed, these icons are beautiful but i don’t need them.I only comment when it is necessary and am not too lazy to do so,i don’t care if you don’t return my comments doesn’t stop me from coming back to a blog that i like.
I’ve made the trackbacks to my blog DoFollow, not the comments.
Seriously, those ICONS are really great.
Nice work, Syed.
yeah I am hoping more people will write about these
Wow, this is great and I have been looking for something better than that old ugly button for my blog! Thanks alot!
JR
They are prettier than the original ones. The square ones that I used in past kinda became monotonous now. I am not sure, but grey color would have been helped as well as many of them grey background theme and it would match with it.
Grey on Grey doesn’t stand out. Thats why there is a black one
I will use the blue one on my new blog. Is under construction
. Thanks.
They’re cool! Thanks for sharing these!
I love your post also think like you, if I do not like a blog but I leave a comment because we must not respond, but the truth helps more feedback and more visits
Great post, cheers
Hey nice icons but I love the orig yellow and black one too. Dunno why so many people hate that one…
I just never liked that one. It looked ugly to me.
Love the new icons. They are very nice. Just an FYI, I liked the old ones too!
Great icons. Thinking to use it on our company blog.
Glad to have another dofollow blog to visit!:-
Your blog is already doing so well so this would be more of a “thank you” to your readers, I guess.
I’m gonna write about this on my blog, this is some good information
Nice step to making the blogs interesting and i will like to use blue one.
I’ve seen in the last year (mostly) a big do-follow movement of bloggers, who prefer to offer something in exchange for the people spend their time and read / comment on their blogs.
Some bloggers who switched to do-follow blogs also declared that they noticed a nice increase of visitors and comments. Also, a big increase of spammers, but that’s another story.
I like the icons. I will use them when we will start our company blog.
I am glad to have found your blog, there is a lot of useful info.
