Well twitter is the latest thing which is growing crazily. While I am not the first one to join Twitter, but I don’t want to be the last one to join either. I actually joined a while back, but I didn’t want to show my account when it was inactive. I went at it crazily, and I started following different people. My goal is to follow the most people anyone have on twitter, so let it be 15,000 ? or more ? eh
But in the past few days that I have started following people on my twitter, traffic to balkhis has increased. As you guys know whenever I start something like this, I do it to such an extent that other people start noticing that Balkhis exist, and then I let it carry its own flow. First it was MyBlogLog, then it was Entrecard, and now I am going into twitter.
I will update the stats and tell you how this month went with twitter, and how many followers do I have and how many people I am following. If you aren’t at twitter already, I recommend that you join it because it increases traffic to your site, and it will allow you to get to know people that you didn’t know before. Networking is what all this is about. It is a safeway of networking because you are not getting harrassed via IM because you are not sharing those and people can ask you simple questions like What are you Doing? and so on.

Hey, I am Syed Balkhi, The guy who is behind Balkhis Inc. I entered the industry back in 2002 not knowing a single thing. I barely spoke English at that time. I started a twitter about 11 months ago. That was about all I did with it though. Right now I am not seeing too much value in doing it, but I loook forward to seeing the results you get. It may change my mind.

No need to wait for results, I have already experimented with this
I followed 7,500+ Twitter members and got about 800 back. Now I’m up to about 1,200 followers, but it’s because they see my name more on other Twitter members.
Traffic was only good for the days when you add a few hundred members a day. Even so, I only received about 60 visitors. So there you have it, the results

Any who it is all taken care of. Yeah as I am just starting with twitter so I am experiment. I have joined after seeing bunch of other people experiencing which incldues problogger, you, shoemoney, alan of affiliate confession.
I don’t really like the idea of twitter.
I think it could be invading your privacy…I have people on my facebook account that use their status update like it was twitter. You can get so many information on a person out of it. There are so many identity theft stories: this tool will just help to increase the numbers.
I’m still of twitter, it’s still to new and i think it could be dangerous…my point of view…
Identity theft hmmm! depends on what you are revealing online, for me i join those things to meet new people and have fun don’t really have anything to loose.
really I don’t think they can steal your information. I mean its not like that I am giving out my social security. My password are all different. Whatever they find out it will be through my name, and my name is all over the web.
I have heard so much about it,but don’t really know what it is all about.If you let us know the benefits sure we are joining you there.
Twitter is mainly used to network with people and to tell them what youre doing. It gives your followers an update as to what youre currently doing. Its pretty neat. I just joined two weeks ago so we’ll see how that goes!

Keeping people hooked to your twitter is an art. Not many people can do that. I’ve seen some really big people’s twitter pages and they don’t look interesting at all! After a point of time you say to yourself, “Do I really care to know what this person is doing all day??
Obviously a person who follows 75K people is not going to read every single person’s updates! So that throttles the very purpose of twitter!
Btw Syed, how did you put up the Balkhis logo (the one that always remains on top)??

I have to agree with angad how can u keep up with readding so many updates if you follow 75k people.
I wasn’t able to stay on Twitter too long. I can update 3-4 times a day but people who have unlimited text update it about every 30 minutes which is too much for me.
btw do you know how to do that on any page, a WP blog for eg. I’ve been searching for a script for months now!
umm no need for a script…
Just in the css file add position: fixed; for that certain class and it should work. The banner will or the image or that one area will scroll down as the user scroll down the screen.
Thanks. I’ll try it out. Here’s what I had in mind. A pic like this can be bobbing up n down along with the scroll. With the Euro2008 goin on, it is a great and funky way to show your support for your team and also tell readers which team you.

I have also heard about the twitter, but never really understood it.
It definitely works for people who have lots of followers and lots of updates. I dont see the point in knowing what someone is doing every single moment of their day.
